Nocturnus fue una banda de Death Metal progresivo fundada en Tampa (Florida) en 1987 por el vocalista y batería Mike Browning (ex-Morbid Angel, ex-Incubus). Fueron muy conocidos por sus letras de temática futurista y sobre todo por el uso del teclado, ambos rasgos atípicos del Metal extremo que se hacía por aquel entonces. De hecho, Nocturnus fue una, sino la primera banda, en incorporar este instrumento al género Death. Disfrutadlos!!!

Los australianos AC/DC nos traen un doble recopilatorio de rarezas, las doce primeras son canciones de estudio y las siguientes, que corresponden al segundo CD, son actuaciones en directo muy difíciles de encontrar hasta ahora. Este lanzamiento viene acompañado del DVD ''Family Jewels 3'' (no incluído aquí), un libreto ilustrado y una presentación de lujo en una caja con forma de amplificador. Interesante para coleccionistas y fieles del grupo.

Signal fue una banda americana de AOR que lanzó tan sólo un álbum oficial, ''Loud & Clear'', considerado como uno de los diez más grandes trabajos del estilo. El grupo estaba encabezado por Mark Free (o Marcie Free, como quieran ustedes llamarlo) como vocalista, tras la salida de éste de los King Kobra. Todo comenzó como un proyecto de Peter McIan (Men At Work) con Erik Scott y Mark Baker, al cual dieron forma en un período de tres años, entre 1987 y 1989. Originalmente llamados The Fugitive Kind. El nombre definitivo fue dado por Ron Fair (directivo de EMI) tras ver la marca de un enjuage bucal. Os dejo además un recuerdo en directo del '90 (grabado 4 meses antes de la partida de Mark Free del grupo) para ampliar la discografía.

Un auténtico discazo, el segundo del grupo, que tardó seis meses en gestarse y que fue disco de oro a las dos semanas de salir. Se hicieron dos versiones; en la primera estaban incluídas las canciones "All I Ever Wanted" y "Never" pero decidieron escribir dos canciones más que sustituyeron a éstas. Las canciones fueron "Can't Get Enuff" y "Baptized By Fire". El single/balada "Miles Away", "Can't Get Enuff'' y "Easy Come Easy Go" son las más destacables de este gran trabajo.

Steeler fue una banda alemana de Heavy Metal clásico, fundada en 1981 bajo el nombre de Sinner (no confundir con la actual banda de Matt Sinner). Más tarde cambiarían el nombre por Steeler, harían una demo de tres temas y pronto vendría su primer álbum homónimo. El grupo funcionó desde 1984 hasta 1988. Los dos primeros discos tuvieron la misma formación: Peter Burtz (voz), Axel Rudi Pell (guitarra), Tom Eder (guitarra), Volker Krawczak (bajo) y Jan Yildiral (batería). Para el tercero y cuarto Krawczak sería reemplazado por Roland Hag y Yildiral por Franco G. Zuccaroli. En 1988 el grupo se disuelve y Axel R. Pell comienza una exitosa carrera en solitario en 1989, llevándose consigo a Volker Krawczak.

Ahí va otro álbum de Jaded Heart. Éste fue el segundo para Johan Fahlberg, que ya sustituyera a Michael Bormann en las labores vocales para el disco anterior ''Helluva Time'' del 2005. Otro gran trabajo en la carrera de estos alemanes. A destacar la canción ''Justice is deserved'', un medio tiempo rápido y con un coro al mejor estilo del grupo, fantástica.

Conocidos desde 1982-1986 como Lion's Breed, cambiaron su nombre en 1987 para ser Scanner, una gran banda alemana de Heavy Metal potente y con algún toque Speed. El grupo, desde su fundación, ha pasado ya por separarse y volver de nuevo dos veces. Hoy en día sólo queda como miembro original el guitarrista Axel A. J. Julius. Actualmente siguen haciendo giras, pero no hay una banda totalmente consolidada ni material nuevo previsto para un futuro disco.
